Research orientation

As a unit performing two functions of Research and Training at the University at the same time, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology defines its research fields and activities that must simultaneously ensure the objectives. after:

Link research with training activities, both in theory and practice
Focusing resources on advanced research fields of Vietnam and the world in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development
Strengthening international cooperation in scientific research

Since its establishment, the Institute's staff has chaired and participated in many scientific research projects at all levels with the main research directions:

Wastewater treatment by natural processes and materials, microalgae, advanced oxidation and membrane filtration technology
Modeling in water and wastewater treatment
Application of artificial intelligence in air quality forecasting, co-benefits, air quality index
Application of microorganisms and pyrolysis in waste treatment
Developing microalgae into raw materials for biodiesel production
Emission factor construction
Models for forecasting and managing air and water quality
Solid waste and hazardous waste management
Econometric and statistical models in the analysis of material, energy and waste flows (life cycle analysis)
Efficient use of energy, accounting for environmental management, waste audit, cleaner production
Recycle and reuse waste.

Scientific research activities are also promoted as a way to improve staff qualifications and teaching quality. The Institute's educational staff have been chairing or co-chairing 06 State-level projects, 05 branch projects of State-level projects, over 50 ministerial/provincial projects and international cooperation projects, 01 Nafosted, over 30 School level projects and many more. Scientific research activities not only attract the participation of the Institute's staff but also provide opportunities and good conditions for students to participate in high-quality scientific research. Through this activity, many students majoring in environmental engineering/technology have been awarded with student awards for scientific research at the School, Ministry and VIFOTEC levels.

Since its establishment, staff of the Institute have published more than 400 works in national and international journals, invited to participate as scientific reviewers for national and international journals. defining topics, projects, tasks at the state, ministerial/provincial level, etc.
